Kurumi had really outdone herself this time, Selina had said so herself during the hours and hours the three of them had spent in the kitchens baking and preparing. Adam had mentioned that they really ought to let the house elves handle things which, surprisingly, Selina had agreed to, but Kurumi just couldn't NOT bake for their event. She had been denied the joy of baking all of last year, and now she was living it up. Upon Selina's request, she had baked some red velvet cupcakes - which had been difficult to do because the Quidditch captain insisted on eating them almost as quickly as they had come out of the oven. Adam had asked for something with chocolate, so Kurumi answered
reluctantly with some chocolate cupcakes and marzipan hats on top. There was also chocolate fudge, English tea cakes and, of course, some sugar cookies with blueberry frosting made to look like little hats. The fifth year's favorite addition to the sweets was, surprisingly, not her signature cookies but the vanilla lollipops that the three of them had sculpted to look like wizard hats. She had insisted on the Mickey Mouse ears being added. Made everything look more cute.
Of course, no party would be complete if there were only sweets. It just wasn't healthy! They had asked the house elves for help this time and they had delivered with an array of sandwiches. There was a
tea set with enough cups for everyone and Gryffindor House's very own special
blend of tea provided by Professor Bentley's personal herb garden. But perhaps the first thing that drew your eye when you approached the study table was the
Sorting Hat cake and cake knife. It had been charmed to serve whoever asked for a piece, so one need only say, "Cake, please" and a perfect piece of marble cake would be delivered. Off to the side were a bunch of plain baseball caps, feathers, paints, ribbon, and everything imaginable for those who did not have their own crazy hat to wear.
Smiling to herself, Kurumi looked over at Selina and Adam. "
I think we are all set," she nodded. Oh! Almost all set. Bending down, Kurumi removed her hat from under one of the tables and
promptly put it on. There NOW she was ready.
