Had she ever realized that boys had eyelashes before????
He was doing the smiling thing again.
"It's surprisingly clean under here. I bet the Gryffindor floor under their table isn't this clean," she finally whispered. Again, making Aspen wonder if she wasn't missorted, her with her cherry-bombing cheesy breath.
She had questions for this boy, most of them beginning with WHY??, but they'd have to wait. The longer they lingered, the higher their chances of getting caught got. Aspen didn't know of a rule that said students couldn't be UNDER the table, but she imagined one might be created just for her. She took the lead, crawling hands and knees down the long length of the House table.
Aspen only paused when she got to the very, very end. The point where they'd have to crawl in plain sight, or get up and walk out of the Great Hall. There, she waited on Cornelius. ".... run like bandits? Or walk out cool?" Was Aspen capable of cool??? "You won't announce that I'm leaving, will you?" Would he??? Aspen SO wasn't sure.
Cornelius gave an unintentionally loud laugh as Aspen's only comment for him was that the Ravenclaw table was pretty clean on its floor, something the Gryffindors probably couldn't say for themselves. He hadn't exactly expected that. He quickly quieted himself, not wanting to draw any more attention to themselves in fear that the professors might catch them. He wasn't sure if there were rules against crawling under the tables, but if there wasn't, there probably should've been.
He followed after Aspen as they crawled the length of the table on the floor, which was indeed (and luckily), surprisingly clean. It was only as they reached the end of the table that they seemed to have a problem. Oh yeah. They needed to get out the door... He hadn't thought about that.
As Aspen asked if they should run like bandits, or play it cool, he fell into thought, wondering what would be the best way to just leave as quickly as possible, but not draw too much attention to themselves. Before he could respond, the girl at his side asked if he was going to announce her leaving. Cornelius grinned at the thought. His expression lit up just a foot or so from her own as he scanned her expression, as though seriously considering it, before he let out a soft chuckle and shook his head.
"No, I'd rather not look around to find you underneath the Gryffindor table next," he teased lightly.
"I hear it's not as clean under there."
Glancing around for a moment, he gathered that the rest of the Great Hall was returning to other conversations, which meant they could probably just make a run for it before anybody fully turned their head. Cornelius turned to look at Aspen, flashing her yet another grin,
"Run like bandits," he decided, crawling out from the table a bit more alongside her. In the next moment, his hand had found her own and they were running out of the Great Hall at top speed.
