In his mind, he knew that students didn't "usually" die during lessons but he wasn't about to bet his life on it. Taking the gillyweed was like swallowing a live octopus--one that was trying to climb back out. He'd first thought he was going to drown, but now he had gills, so it was clearly going to be hypothermia.
Freeman twitched his way over to the group of amphibious students. He wondered if it was possible to communicate, since you couldn't breathe through your mouth. Freeman opened his lips into a large 'O' and gestured at the nearest student. "Phbbbbbbtttttttgggggggphhbbbb!" Translation: Does anyone know how to treat hypothermic shock?
