He listened as she asked if the two things were mutually exclusive and his eyebrows rose, not quite understanding what she was talking about. But his smile widened as she tried to hide her expression behind a pumpkin juice jug, vague amusement in her expression. He rested his arms on the table, crossing them before himself and listening as Aspen expressed her small wish that the experiment was reversible. Confused, he furrowed his brows at her, and listened as she continued to wonder aloud if something embarrassing would happen to him if she decided to smile at him.
Surpressing his smile just barely, he gave a nod and a bit of a shrug, leaning forward half way across the table and resting his chin on his folded hands as though to show her the face she was experimenting with. "I dunno, maybe you should try me," Cornelius suggested, wondering if she would actually decide to smile at him or instead back out and throw a book over her head. Which, he had to admit, would amuse him endlessly. Aspen seemed to be doing that a lot; amusing him.
Aspen couldn't help but note how very, very, very Ravenclaw the pair of them were. She could see him mentally working through things, same as she was forever doing. It was almost as if they were both have several conversations at once, some aloud, some to themselves, some to each other but without words.
Oh dear....
That.... leaning.... thing!
Aspen sat back from the table, like he was getting too close (he wasn't!). She grabbed the wood beam under the table to support her weight and kept on leeeeeaning back. At least she wasn't under a book or hiding behind a jug?
She wasn't so sheltered that she didn't know he was MAYBE, perhaps teasing her a bit, but being Aspen - she took his try me suggestion seriously. ...Okay. Okay, she WOULD try it out - for the sake of experimenting! DID she, too, possess the stimulus that would cause her fellow 'Claw to do embarrassing things post-smile?
Only one way to find out - "'s a bit awkward," Aspen admitted, first looking down at the table shyly. But she rallied, and more or less ended up just laughing at how ridiculous she was being, then raised her eyes to meet his with a GIANT grinny grin. "Is it working? Do you feel unhinged and maybe a little off in the tummy? Or head?" Like she did when he smiled THAT smile at her???
.....Should they be writing down these results?? |
