Oakey mounted his broom then raised his hand. Professor to steer a broom one would simply need to turn in the direction that you wish the broom to go. Turning left makes you the broom go left as does going right. Leaning back helps you go up while pointing down descends the broom. Oakey may not know his right's and lefts but you can't deny that he knows how to fly a broom properly.
