At least, she hoped it was a food request, and not that the ducks actually understood their totally not serious conversation and wanted to prove what a quack sounded like. Either way, once her hand was free of crumbs, she moved and hugged him again. "I like you better as my Cali surfer dude boyfriend anyway." She hadn't really seen him that way yet, but it was his own terminology. Just because she thought it sounded odd coming from her wasn't important.

"Things have been normal, I guess," she said in response to his question. "I think Professor Schirmer was happy with my OWL score." At least, she thought it had seemed that way in the Charms lesson. Not having Matt in all her classes was disappointing, but she wasn't going to argue that he should take lessons he didn't feel he'd need just to spend more time with him. She could talk to other people, after all, especially as that would be all she'd be able to do next term. And they still had other plans for the term, the studying she'd promised she'd help him with, the founders celebration thing that had been announced. They'd find time to hang out, like now. This seemed as good a time as any.
It seemed like before he had the chance to say anything else to Stella, the ducks wanted to get a word in edgewise; well unfortunately Matt didn't know their language otherwise he would have responded. That made him strangely wonder exactly what kind of conversation there would be with a duck. Hmm. "I suppose that's true, but yeah I'm not turning into a duck here; I'm just a little weird lately since I didn't get the chance to surf much over the summer between working and trying to pack before I had to move to London. Just being around the water again feels like I was back home in Los Angeles, though it's a lot warmer there anyway." He knew at one point or another, he'd go back there; probably to see his parents and his brother but that probably wasn't going to be for awhile. "Oh well good, I would have wondered if you said that you didn't like me. But I know you do anyway." That statement made him remember the hate potion situation that they went through last term and no matter what, he just wanted to forget about that once and for all because it wasn't a good time; they went a couple of weeks without speaking to one another but it had seemed like an eternity at the time.

"Things don't stay normal for long around here." That was a known fact about Hogwarts, that was also why he was going to miss the school so much at the end of the term; well that wasn't all he was going to miss but right now wasn't the time to think about that. No need to be sad when it was still September so there was plenty of time left. "Well that's good, speaking of which.. I don't recall you ever telling me how you ended up doing on your OWLs." Obviously he was curious since he had helped her study for the exams which was quite the adventure at times merely because he got distracted a couple times and forgot what they were working on.
