Cass then patted her pockets for any sort of spare parchment and brought out the muggle pen that Lyra had once left in her room. She still preferred good ole quills over the silly ball point pens, but she had no choice, it wasn't as if she could whip out a quill and an inkwell and write without making a mess.

She then scribbled the information down on the parchment, taking care not to press too hard and pierce a hole through it while casually glancing up at the plant every other minute or so.

"They're basically used for potion ingredients Professor." She answered, although she wasn't sure which potion needed it, she really couldn't imagine a potion that needed fire seeds. "and well, maybe they can be used for other things too, like uh..portable heat?" She guessed "Maybe you can put a few seeds inside a glass jar and you can carry it around during winter to prevent frostbite or something like that."

Then she wondered..."Professor, does a fire seed's flame ever burn out?"
