"Brilliant, then I trust you're well rested for this lesson."
Resting... who needed resting when they had herbology?
Seren smiled at the girls relief. "Good morning Gwen," she greeted brightly. "Good morning dear," she replied as yet another Lion joined the ranks.
All of a sudden Seren was confronted by some sort of assault on her ears. What in the name of.... ?
She eyed the dark haired girl that had entered. Well... at least she was enthusiastic, right? An a Lion no less. "It most certainly is true... but we'll save the flesh-eaters for another lesson."
"Oh good, and thank you Ryan, I really appreciate that."
Such lovely manners... good lion, good lion. "Oh yes I did indeed, but it's good to be back."
She liked to keep herself busy... and the students most certainly kept her on her toes. Stealing a sidelong glance, Seren smiled. "Creeping Ivy dear.. it won't bite." "Morning dear, and thank you it's going quite well."
"Morning LuLu dear," she replied brightly, flashing the Ravenclaw a bright smile.
"Morning Jezabel, and yes I did thank you," she greeted. "Good morning dear."
Smiling at one of her Lions's Seren gave the girl a nod of her head. "Morning dear."
"Good morning," said Seren despite the lack of greeting. "Good morning Nate, glad you could make it." "Oh that's brilliant, I'll have to go and visit MoMo sometime." "Morning Louisa," she greeted brightly.
"Good morning."
"Good morning dear," she replied to the young Hufflepuff.. so many new faces. "Good morning Spike," she greeted with a small wink.
"Hello Tiffany," greeted Seren, a bright smile for another one of her Gryffindors. "Good morning," she greeted with a nod. "Good morning Zack," she replied warmly.
"Hello dear," she started before smirking slightly. "Depends how you mean a little dark. A little dark as in good... or a little dark as in bad?"
"Morning dear, thank you and it's good to see you too... glad you could make it." "Morning Pam dear," she replied. "Good morning Daichi, I had a splendid summer, thanks for asking."
She would have struck up a short conversation... but it was about time to start the lesson.
Right... well that was about all of them yes? Good.
After closing the door to the greenhouse, Seren turned on her heel to face the students. "Welcome everyone to the first herbology lesson of the term, for those of you who are returning, it's good to see you... for those of you who are new, welcome I hope you enjoy your time here."
"Now before we start I hope you have all familiarised yourselves with the class rules and I hope you all have your gloves with you. If not, please take this time to grab a pair from the stores cupboard," she said indicated the cupboard near the door opposite her.
She paused briefly to allow time for those students to get settled. "Now a few of you have asked about this ivy that is growing on the window panes... and for the record, they won't harm you, though they may attempt to wrap themselves around your ankles or your fingers should you allow them to." She gave a few of the leaves another gentle stroke as they reached out to her. "Now before we move deeper into the greenhouse, does anybody have any idea as to why there is little light in here?" OOC: The lesson has OFFICIALLY started, do not post your character arriving late unless you want to lose house points-- just pretend you were here the whole time, also no more chatting please, and DO NOT edit your posts/answers. Feel free to be as creative as you like with your response and I shall continue this lesson in approximately 12 hours.
Alyssa thought for awhile and considered the various plants in the greenhouse. The Greenhouse was usually lit well, so the Professor must have added a plant in here that was sensitive to the light. So Alyssa raised her hand," Professor could it be because some of the plants here are sensitive to light or react in the opposite way when exposed to light. Like Devil's Snare. It prefers dank and dark places and when exposed to heat and light will retreat and hide.
There could also be other plants here that thrive better in the dark. Too much exposure to light, and they end up with light lesions on their leaves. In fact, there are actually some plants that lack chlorophyll, or the green color that is typical in plant life, for example some fungi and algae, and they live in the dark entirely. Professor, it is true that all plants need dark periods to grow? Many plants need to undergo oxygen respiration in the dark, as well as regain water that they lost during the day" Alyssa asked the Professor. She first that her answer was correct. She knew that the Professor hadn't asked for questions at this time, but Alyssa thought that she would include that question in just to verify her answer.
