Van preferred the latter since if anyone did touch something they weren't supposed to, they'd get a shock or find themselves suddenly glued to said item or various other effects from the security wards.

Aaaaand he wasn't gonna continue until Dean sat.

Might as well have some fun, since nervousness was coming off the man in bucketloads. Heh.
