Looking around the table, he was relieved to see that the House elf situation had cleared up. He definitely hadn't wanted tonight's feast to be the filthy repeat that last year's was.
Hopefully the baby elf had found a good home in the end.
Straightening up as he eyed a few first years trickling into the Great Hall, he smiled at a few of the shy-looking ones remembering how daunting the upper years had appeared, especially when he'd inadvertently gotten in the middle of a heated blood-status debate. He shuddered at the memory. Certainly not one of his finer moments.
Shrugging the memory away he grinned good-naturedly, "Welcome to Ravenclaw. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask the rest of us; we'd be more than happy to help. I'm Caelius Ashdown by the way," he winked, flashing a blinding smile.
"Caelius!" Jayden laughed, as he came down to sit beside her.
"I swear, I need to get some kind of tracker for you! You're all over the place!" She chuckled, her eyes twinkling with pure joy and adoration. She and Cael had had a good summer together, it was almost as if time hadn't gone by at all... but here they were... one year later. Still together.
"Hmm... I wonder if they got their elf problem figured out..." She whispered into his ear before kissing his neck briefly.
