Most wouldn't fall for this, especially coming from an eleven-year-old, but Adeline had lucked out trying a trick like this on a loon like Edric. He'd never done a thing wrong in his life, yet he was always the first to get jumpy when the authorities were nearby. It was an odd form of paranoia.

She tried hard not to laugh and did it very well. Years of practice. "Yes more details. Did I stutter?" she asked sternly. "You're right." she told him in a saddened tone. "I am a spy but not for the enemy. I'm a spy trying to save your life and I still need more details." she told him in a monotone voice. She took another bite of the candy. "I don't mean to do no harm to you."
