Tori beamed at Paulie, very pleased with their matchmaking of the next Golden Couple, and waited for Taryn or August to say something. While she was just sitting there and enjoying the moment, the redhead noticed a dark shadow hovering over her section of the table. Hmm, that was weird...Tori leaned forward a bit to look at the shadow, which was steadily growing larger...that meant that something was coming closer and closer to them....
She looked up then, twisting her red head around madly as she tried to see what it was. Suddenly, the 'shadow' gave out a loud, "HOOO HOOOOOOT!" and landed on the table in a sweep of feathers and wings. Tori screamed and leaped up from the table and on to Paulie's lap.
She wasn't too fond of magical creatures, see, even if they were only owls. The owl danced around the table, dodging whatever was on it, and tried to approach Tori again. She stuck out her hand to shoo it away but the owl had other ideas. It stretched its neck out and delivered a red envelope into her outstretched hand, then promptly took off again, sensing that it wasn't wanted there.
Hands trembling, Tori ripped open the red envelope, afraid that it was a Howler. It wasn't a Howler, thankfully, but it was something just as bad. Her eyes quickly scanned through the letter before tossing it onto the table in a state of angst and shock.
Then she burst into tears and buried her head into Paulie's shoulder, sobbing loudly.
SPOILER!!: The Letter
Darling Victoria,
I realize this may come as a surprise to you, but since you wrote home all of ONE time this past school year, I may as well do the same for you. You are a big, grown-up girl with big ideas and a big, Muggleborn boyfriend, so I suppose you can handle the big news that you won't be going back to Hogwarts next year in the form of a letter.
Yes, my darling, I hope you read that carefully. After the disturbing information your last letter contained, and after seeing your Hogwarts grades (You only earned an A in Potions. Imagine that, a Bunbury BARELY passing potions! What would your uncle Reginald say?!), your stepmother, mother, and I all feel that it would be best for you to attend a different magical school of education. Now, I've already spoken to the Headmistress at Beauxbatons and she has agreed to allow you to attend starting as a fourth year. Much to my dismay, she was rather pleased to see that you had been a "Top Student" at Hogwarts, although of course I (patiently) explained that nearly achieving perfection is not quite the same as actually achieving it.
You'll be leaving on September 1st, the same as you would be for Hogwarts, and of course we'll be expecting you at home every break. I know you'll be upset my darling, and I've been looking into buying you a unicorn to make this up to you, but really, try to look on the bright side! Beauxbatons is just another chance to make more friends and to perhaps meet some nice young men closer to your age, and from better, more affluent families. I do not think Beauxbatons has any silly Quidditch teams, so you can be relieved that we do not have to consider any more ridiculous rhinoplasties for you.
Try not to get too upset, dear, or we'll just have to send you back to living with your mother and brother. I'll see at home later tonight, sweetheart!
Love,
Your Father
