That's Rough Buddy | Be the Flower | Moon & Stars

Kennedy couldn't have sprinted any faster than he did to get to the platform. He felt extremely nervous, excited, giddy, scared, paranoid, happy and many other feelings that were jumping around in him. He stuck his hand inside his trouser pocket and enveloped the shiny badge that was still concealed in there. He hadn't told anyone on him getting Prefect... well, his mom, godfather and John already knew because they were there when they got their Hogwarts letters.

He stopped just a few feet away from the barrier that was separating him from where he truly belonged. Flashes of last year sprung into his mind. He had been scared and angry. Scared because he was stepping into an entirely new world with no one to guide him. Angry because he felt like a freak going to a magical school, but at the end of the term he found that it was the most AMAZING place his mom could have ever sent him to. Now, he was looking forward to seeing the castle again and roaming the halls, maybe take a swim in the lake, read LOADS at the library and just chill at the Slytherin common room. And of course, he was looking forward to his new responsibilities.

The boy looked back and smiled guiltily. He had left his Godfather behind with his trunks. Ooops. "Here, I got this," he said, pushing the cart forward.

Xavier Baltazar wore a silent grin on his face as his godson ran to the wall. Kennedy reminded him of himself when he was younger, except he had a totally different view of the world than Kennedy did. He pushed the trolley and couldn't but fell proud of his godson. He was Prefect. That was a total of four Prefects in the family.

Not only that, but it had come unexpected that his Kennedy would get the badge with only one year of attendance at Hogwarts. But, then again, he came from stellar blood and his grades were beyond great. He wished his daughter Peyton would learn something from his godson, but that girl was too centered in ice cream and nail polish. Sigh.

He stopped when Kennedy did and handed over the cart. "You're going to make a great Prefect this year," he said, clapping his godson on the back. A visible smile spread on his face now. "You know your mom and I are very proud of you." And they were. Lucia's face was priceless when she found out what a Prefect was.

This was the sentimentalism Kennedy was trying to avoid, but he didn't mind it as much when his mom wasn't here hugging him in a death grip, crying and saying how proud she was of him.

"Thanks," he grinned, looking sideways. He didn't want anyone to know he was Prefect just yet. He wanted Aurora to be the first to know. "I just hope I don't let anyone down." Yeah, that was his biggest fear, but he could do it. He was an Escalante and his mother's son. If she could raise a magical child on her own then he could take care of his snakes.

"Let's go," he said, nodding toward the wall. This was it. His fifth year at Hogwarts was just beginning.

Both males grinned at each other and disappeared into the wall between platforms nine and ten.
