Severus could not wait to go through the magical pillar and officially enter the world where he knew he would feel as though he belonged. His mother had fussed over him as best she could before he father had stepped in and, well, put an end to that forcefully. Now he stood on the edge of the muggle world waiting for Lily when he heard the hoot of an owl.

"Oh, Severus, isn't it wonderful?"

Severus turned to see that the hooting owl belonged to Lily. A smile crept across his pale face as he suddenly didn't feel as neglected anymore.
