That answer surprised him, though that was mostly because Ashley still remembered them fighting, which he'd also been surprised about. He finally just decided that he was never going to get any of it, and moved on, figuring that maybe he was lucky not to have any siblings.

He still had no idea whatsoever why they couldn't have just... avoided interacting with those family members for the rest of the summer, but his mother refused to talk about it.
