As she was waiting to find out if her egg was going to hatch, Stella had found herself tracing the filigreed pattern on the surface of the metal. It was a way of passing the time, but also, she figured if anything happened she'd notice it easier than if she'd just been watching it. Especially since so far the only result she'd noticed from the last charm cast was that the swirling blues and greens underneath the silvery lines had deepened slightly. It was starting to worry her, especially as usually that meant Oberon was getting too warm. Although she hadn't actually noticed a temperature difference, either from the egg's position still in her lap or from her light touch now. It was mystifying, really, and she looked up at the professor for a moment, ready to ask if this was normal.

However, before she could speak, her fingernail caught in one of the lines curling around the egg and she glanced down again. That was new. Oberon usually was completely smooth, but now there was a tiny crack. It followed mostly along the filigree line, but it didn't seem like it was just a previously unnoticed flaw. Especially as it actually grew the tiniest bit larger as she peered at it, then she reached out again to trace the fissure with her fingernail once more. They hadn't been told they couldn't help their egg hatch, after all. She didn't do much, though, just widened the crack a fraction of an inch. Then, she sat back as the egg continued to split, and she started to hear movement inside. Maybe there is some sort of animal in there, she thought, watching as the crack continued to grow until a small paw poked out. Interesting, she continued, before reaching out to nudge the edge of the crack again. She'd never have thought her egg held a kitty, although maybe that was why Lyra had never really bothered Oberon. The kitten had sensed a similarity.

It was a crazy thought, but as the egg split more, another paw emerged. Then the head. The small creature continued its birth, until the egg had almost split entirely in two. The halves weren't exactly equal, seeing as the crack had followed the curve of the filigree, but it was enough that she could see a piece of parchment tucked underneath the yawning silver cat. At least, she hoped it was yawning. Holding a hand out flat, she let the feline prowl onto it, then set the creature down on the cushion beside her to retrieve the note. Glancing it over, she quickly read the words then glanced over at the animal who was now prowling in small circles beside her.

Don't worry, a tiger it may be but this little metal charmed figurine won't bite you. However you might find this charm will help camouflage you when you need to hide. When you are able to manage a disillusionment charm or other similar disguise type magic, this tiger will boost the strength and make it even less likely you'll be found out. Your footsteps will fall lighter and you'll be much better at stalking sneaking up on people as long as you have this little charm on you.
"I guess you can still be Oberon. Tigers are kind of royal," she murmured, shifting to let the tiger creep onto her hand again. The creature didn't seem to have a problem with the name, still, so she nodded to herself before carefully climbing to her feet. Sliding her wand back into its holster, she used her free hand to pick up the halves of the egg, then pocketed them before turning her attention to Professor Schirmer again. She didn't think the professor would mind if she kept the egg shards too. They were still pretty, after all. "Thank you for an amazing term, and I'll take good care of Oberon," she said with a smile, as the tiger in her hand opened its mouth again in a silent roar. Apparently Oberon had wanted to speak to the professor too, but Stella didn't want to stay too long. She had other finals to worry about, so after thanking the professor, she turned and left. Hopefully she'd see the professor again next term, and she could show that she'd kept up her promise.
