Tori huffed and she puffed and she pushed the door to the Owlery open at last. Harry the Hatchling bounced in her pocket and she could tell, from the tiny quivering vibrations he was sending up her leg, that he was nervous around all these owls.
"Shh, Harry," Tori scolded, taking the egg out of her pocket for a good talking to, "they aren't going to try sitting and roosting on you, you goofy egg. I mean it's OBVIOUS that you're made of metal, all right?"
She rolled her eyes and carefully set him on the window ledge, which only made him more nervous of course. But she couldn't hold the egg and write a letter home at the same time! Tori just rolled her eyes and got to work on her letter home, which was surprisingly only the second she had written all year. Heh. Whoops.

Tori beamed at the letter when she was done and quickly stuffed it into her envelope. She was jussssst starting to seal it up when she realized that the envelope felt unusually heavy. Hmm. And where was Harry?
Tori glanced around the room and gasped. "HARRY!" she called out nervously, glancing out the window. "HAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRY!!!!!!!!!!" Had he accidentally rolled out?! Oh no, even a metal egg wouldn't survive THAT fall!
The redhead nervously bit her lip, wondering where he had really gotten to, when she noticed that her envelope was quivering. Oh. OH! That's when she saw the egg-shaped outline inside. "Oh Harry," she laughed in relief, "I can't mail you to my dad! You've got to hatch in a few days, silly!"
She opened the envelope and gave Harry a kiss, so relieved was she to see him all shiny and fine. She carefully tucked him back into her pocket and resealed the envelope, picking out a random owl to attach it too. Tori watched the owl soar out the window and patted her pocket, heading back downstairs with Harry safely inside.
