Post Daniel Radcliffe, David Yates talk future projects, Harry Potter theme park expansion

Daniel Radcliffe and director David Yates discussed the various projects they have coming up in the next couple of years, as well as well-deserved breaks they plan to take, as well, at the New York City Deathly Hallows: Part 2 luncheon on November 21, 2011.

Dan noted that he has a couple of smaller, independent films possibly lined up for 2012, after his promotion for The Woman in Black. He also told MTV earlier this month that he believed 2012 will be his big year, given the projects he may possibly be attached to. However, after The Woman in Black is released in early February, Dan stated that he plans to take a short break and holiday until March.

Of particular note was a comment Yates made about what the actors and crew of the Harry Potter series are up to, including production designer Stuart Craig:

Quote:
"Stuart Craig is working on the theme park."
There has already been confirmation from Universal President Ron Meyer of future Harry Potter theme parks to come, and SnitchSeeker received confirmation from Heyman that they are in 'early days' of discussions for expansions of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We will have much more of that in the future.

Daniel Radcliffe: "I will be taking three weeks off in late February, which I'm very excited about. I think we worked out that it's the longest I've had completely off, not training, because in the time I had off between Potter and 'Woman in Black' I was training for the show, so I think it's probably the longest I've had off in about three years. As an actor, you have to go, 'God I'm lucky' when you have a moment like that when you go from one job straight onto another."

"There's a few things possibly happening that are all independent films and all as likely and unlikely to go as they ever will be. Nothing confirmed unfortunately."

David Heyman: "They've all grown and seeing how David Yates, too, continuing to flex muscles, and I'm really excited to see what he does next."

David Yates: "They're brilliant people so they'll work, and look at what Dan's doing, look at what Alan's doing. Ralph is now directing. Stuart Craig is working on the theme park. It was an apprenticeship in a way. A lot of young people blossomed into more experienced senior people. Assistant art directors are now art directors, assistants in my office are now head of post-production or doing publicity. The visual FX industry in England which was very modest is now as good as anywhere in the world. I think all of those people aren't going to be struggling. They're going to find work because they're all really, really good."

"I've got a couple smaller movies I'm very passionate about, but I haven't decided which one yet. I have to really decide in the next week or two, and they're both based in America. They've been waiting for months and months for a commitment so I really need to plunk to one or another.

"They're going to be quite small movies. And then we'll go bigger in a couple years. I'm reading lots of stuff, but you have to fall in love with something, that's the problem. This is a really difficult act to follow. Potter was such a rich world to play with so every week I read scripts and I'm looking for things that have that degree of range - emotional, spectacle, metaphorical."
