Unconsciously, the woman let her hands fall to her stomach. As Ryan spoke those words and turned away, Helena sighed audibly and rolled her eyes. An unamused eyebrow was raised in his direction when he DID turn back to Helena.
She just looked at him for a moment with a somewhat fearful look in her eyes. Concentrating on words suddenly seemed much more difficult, and her palms were sweaty. Fidgeting with her fingers, Helena diverted her gaze away from Ryan for a moment. Well... she had all of his attention, yet looking him in the eye seemed terrifying. There was a scuff on the toe of her left shoe. Helena hadn't noticed that until now.
"I'm... I... erm... well... I'm pregnant."
The blonde woman let out a breath that she didn't realise she'd been holding in, and eyed Ryan's face, looking for the reaction before it happened. She waited a moment before piping up with: "3 months..."
And there was that look she gave him the moment he turned back to face her. It made Ryan feel like he was being mentally scolded by his mother so there was a bit of 'Okay, okay. I am ashamed of what i tried to do' look on his face, too. So, he looked down at the floor in true 'i am ashamed' form before looking back at the woman...only to see her trying to avoid eyecontact...for that moment. Just when she was supposed to tell him what the problem was.
Since he could add this to the things that had started to scare him, Ryan wanted to raise a hand to stop her. Whenever his life felt miserable, it was always because of those problems that were big enough to be indecipherable by himself. So he did not want to...
...but she just said it, the man was too late and he...completely froze just looking down at the certain spot on her, kind of automatically.
Three months? And she had just figured it out?
Now it was like something totally unexpecting, something that even Ryan Chambers could not predict or read, hit him. So, he was all speechless, unable to decide what to do or what to say. Nevertheless those words escaped his mouth.
