When you first approach it you have to do it slowly and always keep eye contact with it. When you get closer, you need to bow to it, making sure that at the same time you are still maintaining eye contact with it. Then you step back and see whether it returns your bow. If it does, then you know that you can approach it. But you still have to do it cautiously and slowly and not just rush up to it."
