No, Nate hadn't let any of it slip his mind. He tried to ignore it, but it still plagued him to know what pain he had caused people. Maybe that's where the killing curse came from. he thought. "Come on, let's go back to the Common Room," he said, still unknowingly holding Jez's hand.
Jez looked into Nate's eyes as he let everything out. That was good. Jez supposed it was easier to do it with someone who wasn't part of that love triangle. But he was right. He needed to remember that to learn from it, and to not do it again.
"Okay," she agreed when he was finished. She walked towards the door, and it was only as she lifted her hand to open the door that she realised she was still holding Nate's hand. Oh. Jez smiled in embarrassment and let go, and felt a tingle of cold air. His hand was warm at least. "Sorry." She'd pulled him halfway across the room without noticing.
