Post Video: New Deathly Hallows films behind-the-scenes look, 'Ride Along Memory Lane'

Harry Potter: the Quest released a new behind-the-scenes look at the making of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2 from the perspective of actor Warwick Davis, who narrated and gave a tour of the many sets of the films, especially Privet Drive and the Great Hall, throughout. With new interviews from Emma Watson, Alfie Enoch, Tom Felton, Evanna Lynch and more, the cast discussed their relationship with working on the set of the series for over ten years. That can be viewed here.

Quote:
Warwick Davis: Hello, I’m Warwick Davis, aka Professor Flitwick. We’re going to take some time out to take you on a small behind-the-scenes tour of Leavesden Studios. I shall take you upon my Segway around the studios for a glimpse like no other. A glimpse behind the magic.

Emma Watson: We spend so much time here in Leavesden and we really kind of function in our own little bubble. We wake up, we drive in to work and then we drive home, and we’re with our family and our friends.

Alfie Enoch: The place itself has the most significance for me just because it’s somewhere I’ve been coming to since I was eleven. It’s a wonderful adventure maze.

Warwick Davis: What better place to start than right here on Privet Drive. Behind me Number 4, the place where Harry lives. Privet Drive is one of the longest-standing sets here at Leavesden. Each time we come to film on this set, they cut the grass and they pull up the weeds – make it ready for filming. The departure of the seven Harrys from Privet Drive is very interesting because in the pavement here you see different markers – there’s one there. They were the markers for the different characters involved with the scene.

Let’s leave Privet Drive now. We’ll head off and see what else we can find here on the back lot of Leavesden Studios. So this here is the canteen. This place feeds an army. WE’ll travel out through this door now. Let’s get out here. I’m going to demonstrate some of the magic of Harry Potter now by levitating this door. Check that out! We’re coming now to one of my favorite sets. This is one of the oldest sets here at Leavesden. It’s the Great Hall here at Hogwarts. This would, of course, at times been full of hundreds of Hogwarts students. Down there at the end, below the big window, would be, of course, the faculty at Hogwarts school. I still recall my first day coming in here and being placed at that head table and feeling very, very important. Looking to my left, in the center there, was, of course, the late Richard Harris and next to him Maggie Smith. And on my right, Alan Rickman. It is the most wonderful place. One of the great sets here at Leavesden. One that’s been a huge part of Harry Potter for the last nine or ten years.

Okay, leaving now. We’ll come back outside. Now look who’s up there (upper torso of Grawp the Giant). You never know what you’re going to see here. One minute we’re in Leavesden, next minute we’re in London. We can see this because we are magical but to a muggle that would appear invisible. It is, of course, Grimmauld Place. It’s a complete street we’re looking at. If we want to film that direction, we see there’s some green screen there. In post-production, of course, they would recreate the rest of the street running right down there.

Evanna Lynch: I get so excited about going here. You go in and you don’t know what to expect.

Tom Felton: A lot of places have become landmarks of Leavesden so … very sentimental place.

Warwick Davis: I still get a shiver when I walk into those sets because it’s very, very magical. Literally, magical.
Additionally, in ties with the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Blu-ray launch this month, Evanna and Harry Potter costar Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), will be heading to Lille, France on November 16, 2011, days after the Harry Potter celebration at the Wizarding World in Orlando, to greet fans at a signing.
