As the question left the boys lips, Seren suddenly got a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. Did she know he was a muggleborn?
"No, I hadn't the faintest idea," she started, offering him a small smile. "I usually try to get to know the person... and not worry about minor details like that." Silly stuff anyway. What did it matter if a witch or wizard was muggleborn? They were still capable of magic, and were in no way disadvantaged.
Seren continued to listen as August mentioned feeling out of the loop and then meeting sombody that made him uncomfortable. She didn't like the sound of this... not at all.
"Ok..." she started once the boy had finished. "Now... first of all, I want you to understand something, and listen carefully. Do not let anybody tell you that you are not good enough, that you don't belong... because you do. Just because someone is muggleborn it doesn't make them any less of a wizard, in fact some of the most powerful and successful witches and wizards in history have been halfblood or less. Blood... and heritage is not what makes a wizard, it's persistence."
Bouncing blueberries! How was it that people were still harping on about muggleborns? Have they not evolved at all?
"This person that's making you feel uncomfortable. What are they doing exactly?"
For some reason he felt really awkward starting off the conversation with the phrase stating he was a Muggleborn. He hadn't been in this magical world very often but he still knew that it was apparent that it DID matter to some people. It made him feel bad. But it made him smile smally at the Herbology Professor when she spoke about wanting to get to know the person rather than that nonsense.
"Thanks."
He didn't know that many great witches and wizards had been half-blood or muggleborn. Why hadn't he known this?!
"Wow, I had no idea..." he trailed off. So why did Eino make him feel so bad.
"So do most witches and wizards know about that stuff, what you just said?" She was making him feel better about himself and beginning to see that there was nothing wrong with him, it was the Ravenclaw boy that was wrong.
"Well..." he started trying to think of things from their last two times being together.
"He sort of freaks out and seperates himself from me when I brought up that I was Muggleborn or when I tried to calm him down about Muggle transportation that he was afraid of."
Auggie was beginning to wonder if he should tell her who it was.
