"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."

...what? She was still on the same page with Rubiey even if she had a sad family story because really who had a perfect family? Mm?

The girl took her cup and started blowing gently, she didn't like hot things burning her tongue. When she had to answer, however, she stopped the childish act, "Marina works. She also has a boyfriend and a really sick father, I don't think she'll have time for me." Another blow to the tea then she went on, "My mom asked me to come home, though, but I don't want to go. I'd rather stay alone at Hogwarts." And by alone she meant with no family. "But again, you guys are my family here, too." She repeated Adam's phrase with a big smile.

"I think she does," Adam said with a little nod of the head. "Although if I can manage to successfully find myself an apartment, maybe she can come stay with me for a little bit if her home life is too troubling." Living together would be quite a big step in their relationship, especially since they had just started dating, but Adam would extend the offer so Rubiey knew she had somewhere to go if she needed a place. "That offer is extended to you as well," Adam said with a little nod of the head as he too blew on his tea to cool it down a bit. Deciding that maybe it needed to sit for a second he set it down on the huge foot stool next to them.

As Louisa explained the Marina situation Adam nodded thoughtfully. "I'm sorry to hear that her father is sick," Adam said with a small frown. "Is he a wizard or is he a muggle?" Not that it really mattered, but Adam felt like the wizarding world was more advanced with remedies for illnesses than the muggle world was, although even he knew that some things could not be cured. "How are things going with your mom?" Adam asked when Louisa mentioned the woman's offer for her to stay there for the holidays. "Have you guys been in much contact?" Really Adam and Louisa had such strained relationships with their parents that he felt like it didn't really come up in conversation all that much. He returned her smile warmly when she repeated his feelings about the people here being her family as well.
