First reading had been a bat...and considering that it was around lunch time now, she doubted that she would be seeing any bats right now.

Sitting Indian style on the ground, Kurumi arranged her rocks around her water filled bowl. Now all she had to do was wait for...whatever was going to appear in the cloudless sky. Maybe the Whomping Willow would smack a bird her direction or something. Would that

Her stomach grumbled, so she reached into her pockets for some of the turkey and cheese sandwiches she had made earlier and began to nibble on them.

Half way through her sandwich, Kurumi spotted something in her bowl, and she peered in closer. Yep, there was definitely a bird there...a hawk perhaps hovering in the air. Suddenly, it dove forwards and its shadow vanished from her bowl. "Diving...diving...diving..." she muttered to herself as she scanned her notes, finally finding what she was looking for. "...go head first into something. You don't want just your heart in it, but your mind has to be there too."

It took about an hour before I saw something in my bowl. I did not see a bird, but a bat. Upon doing research in the library, I found that bats can take on the meaning of all things being connected, keen observation, ability to see through illusion. They are also a very sociable creature, so one could say that the bat's appearance is directly to my reading in class where the V-shape indicated that friends were important.

The bat's flight pattern started off as a bouncing, up and down, pattern. This flight patter signifies a path full of surprises and that life may be and will be nudging you in all sorts of different directions in order to change your life's path. It also means that it may be time to take chances and not shy away from the direction life is pushing you towards. A few bumps will help you on your way to greatness.

The bat's flight changed to more of a zig zag pattern. As was mentioned in class, this flight pattern is related to the up and down pattern, only more dramatic. It means that one needs to let oneself be surprised by the sudden sharpness in life's directions and that the changes are not always bad.

I think what this reading it trying to tell me is that I need to stop running away from the changes that have been happening to me. While I am sure you, Thereos, are not too interested in hearing the woes of a teenage girl...let's just say that this term has been anything but what I expected. Someone who I thought I would never see again came back and turned my world completely on its head - along with some things that were still carrying over from last term. I pushed, quite literally actually, this person away because of what happened and have been taking everything they have said to me with a grain of salt, but perhaps this isn't showing the keen observation or the ability to see through illusion that the bat represents. Not only that, but the zig zag pattern indicated that not all change could be bad, so perhaps I need to take a step back and reevaluate the situation.

In other areas, areas and relations with people that have been changing and moving in different directions, I suppose I need to go with the flow and just let go. See where it leads me. Seems like I need to come right out and share my opinion and ask the difficult questions to a few people.

December 5th / 5:30 in the morning / by front gate
Weather permitted anything from being seen.
Selina walked along the edge of the school yard. It was now winter for certain. Snow was on the ground everywhere and first years were bubbling with excitement about the Christmas season. Something Selina herself had never really understood probably because she was Jewish. But the snow was pretty to a point and she was enjoying it immensely. Of course she did have a scarf keeping her warm... a scarf that she had grown accustomed to wearing every time she went out. It was warm.

As she walked past the Whomping Willow she noticed a familiar head of silky hair. She walked up behind the girl and attacked her with a snowball, "You have been attacked by the Selina Skylar Snowball MONSTER!"

Then she laughed and took a seat beside her, "So what are you doing, Rumi?"
