She glanced up occasionally to make sure she wasn't about to run into anyone or wander off where she shouldn't, though for the most part she relied on her peripheral vision to avoid bumping into things - otherwise she'd have to glance up more often and wouldn't get very far in her book. So far, she'd managed to avoid running into anything and anyone.
Hopefully she'd be able to keep up her record. Dashiel W. Cheshire was a name that fit in here perfectly. Honestly, Dash had hated his name in New Zealand. The Kiwis always made fun of him- the little quick kitty, they often called him, and he also begrudged his five-foot-six build. But he was cool here... Almost. A tan New Zealander with bleach blonde hair, a pretty narley surfer body, and a cute accent. That was him. As long as they didn't ask anything intellectual of him, Dash would be just fine.
Speaking of intellectual... A pretty, small girl had just passed quite closely to him, her shoulder mere centimeters from brushing his chest. Her nose had been buried in a book. No wonder she hadn't given him the English perimeter. With a chuckle, he watched her pass, then realized, even as her eyes moved from side to side every once in a while, trying to guide herself, she was heading towards a tree. With a sigh, the Kiwi decided to do his good deed for the day; stretching out his arm, he grabbed the back of the girl's blue scarf and tugged her to a stop.
"Watch it," he muttered, his mouth twitching into a small dashing- if you wouldn't mind the pun- smile. "Don't want to run that pretty little nose into anything."
