"Not only rude, but it's easy to get distracted from what you're actually supposed to be doing when you're talking to someone about something that clearly could wait until after class." For some reason, a bit of attitude started appearing in his tone of voice and he wasn't exactly sure where that was coming from; it possibly could have been the fact that this whole idea reminded him of what Raven had mentioned a couple years ago when he was first sorted into Slytherin.

Even though her point was not only correct and quite brilliant, it seemed to make him reconsider exactly what to say next since he wasn't about to admit defeat; no that was never an option at all. But, that didn't mean that he didn't have a trick up his sleeve that could turn the tables on this. Are you sure that's a good idea? Yes I know that's very Slytherin of you but I mean.. really. There are other ways to make a good point here. "Hmm, true." He wasn't even sure now what else to say, all logic had escaped from his brain now so this definitely wasn't about to end well at all. "So.. I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime." And of course he said it, it might not have gone with the other points but at least he ended up saying something that made sense.
Whether Matt knew it or not, Stella had gotten a bit distracted when he'd slid his sketch away from himself. She'd wanted to see what he was sketching, and n ow that it was apparently finished, she couldn't help but turn to glance at the parchment. "Okay, that almost looks realistic. Where did you see a Phoenix, that you could draw one that well?," she found herself asking, before his comment about rudeness in lessons registered and she quieted down. More because of the obvious irritation in his voice than anything that he'd said, however. It was almost like he was actually sounding like a Slytherin. "Unfortunately, it seems that some people don't have the pateince to wait until after a lesson. And we all suffer for it," she said quietly, hoping for another topic so she could forget this little moment.

Their little debate at least worked somewhat. At least, her almost guaranteed win was amusing, and he hadn't seemed to go back into that scary mode. He definitely seemed like he'd needed to think to come up with an argument against what she'd said, at least. There was always the possibility that she'd never get him to admit she'd won, but in her head the fact he hadn't come up with anything to say yet had told her just as much. And she grinned as he acknowledged that what she'd said was true, but all the amusement at getting even that admission faded into a bit of surprise as he'd continued, and she blinked. That was certainly unexpected. It took her a moment to even shake off the surprise, but then she just looked at him for a second. "Were you trying to distract me?," she finally asked, not really answering him for the time being. She wasn't against it, of course, but c uriosity needed to be sated first.
