Wow...I love it. Two might be more scary, but I must agree with Ashfig, I am a Family person and think that his should become his first priority after hearing he is hurt (almost like the food thing in the corridor, he smelled the food so the danger left his mind).

My pick? 1!

P.S. PAMS

~*~*~*~*~*~

Tobias stood there still as if his feet were cemented to the floor. The young boy looked down the corridor in which the cloaked figure had disappeared through. Whoever it was had clearly make a quick exit, and was more than likely long gone.

His gaze was now on Rosa, her eyes were fixed on the floor. She was a blond girl that Tobias had known for years. Their families lived next door to one another. ”You shouldn’t have come Rosa, go back to the common room,” he said coldly as he brushed past her out the main entrance. Tobias was not good at thanking people, and certainly not a girl. He was supposed to save her right? Not the other way around.

He jogged down the dark hall, up the stairs and weaved his way through the castle.

He could see the doors of the infirmary. ”TOBIAS!” Rosa’s voice yelled from behind him. He had hoped she wouldn’t follow him, but he also knew better. The boy stopped and turned on heel, ”What is it you want you awful girl?!” As he turned he saw more inferi; he quickly looked left and right but saw no sign of the cloaked figure. Rosa started wielding her wand, which was now shooting fireballs at the living dead creatures. Tobias backed up slowly, he knew Rosa could handle the inferi, he needed to find the cloaked figure. Surely he was here. Just then something caught his attention, someone was moving along the corridor. He pointed his wand square at the figure, Stupify! The person in the shadows deflected the spell.

Rosa came to Tobias’ side, in a heavy breath she updated him, ”They turned away. I don’t know why but they have.” The creatures for some unknown reason dispersed in a very quick fashion. Both children’s attention now was on the dark figure, which was moving closer to them. They backed up until they were against the wall.

”I’ll hex you!” Tobias yelled in almost a squeal.

”Oh will you Mr. Welch?” The voice was warm, comforting and familiar. ”Head Master Fulpain?” Tobias felt a strong sense of calm come over him. ”Yes and you should consider identifying your target before attacking.” He scolded Tobias in a very calm and cool manner. Tobias’ face went flush, ”Yes sir. I’m sorry sir.”

Now the Head Master was standing directly over them, ” I would think you should be in your dormitory.” Although he questioned them, both children were sure he knew what exactly had happen and why they were here. ”Mr. Welch, I assume you need to apologize to your brother?”

Without another word the Fulpian slipped into the infirmary; the children followed. Tobias’ stomach lurched as he saw the large room lined with beds and every bed was full. ”Have they all been attacked by the inferi?!” Tobias asked in a whisper. No one answered.

Fulpian disappeared into the nurse’s office; the children were left standing alone listening to all the moans and groans. Tobias scanned each bed looking for Jackson. Rosa jabbed his side and pointed to a bed in the far back corner. They scurried to the bed, ”Jackson? Are you ok?”

The older boy squirmed; it was obvious he was in pain. ”Tob..tob..Tobias? Are you ok?” The younger brother instantly felt awful; he was sure he’d receive a howler by morning. ”Yes, I’m in better shape than you are its sure.” Tobias knew his brother would be ok, that wasn’t what he was here for.

”Jackson, I know you’re in pain that much is obvious, but I must know what happen.” A loud scoff came from Rosa. Jackson gathered enough strength to scold his brother, ”No Tobias, no. You will not run around investigating what happen. This is bigger than you, bigger than all of us.”

Tobias knew that was coming, he ran his hand through his dark messy hair. ”Look,” he was desperate for information. ”If I promise to go straight to the dormitory will you tell me?” There was one thing Tobias never went back on, and that was his word. His brother knew it too. Rosa crossed her arms and huffed aloud once more. ”Fine, Tobias.” Jackson coughed, grabbed his side and moaned loudly.

”I went looking for you when your roommates said you hadn’t eaten dinner or showed up in the common room.” More coughing. ”I searched everywhere, all your normal hang outs, even the kitchens.” Tobias listened carefully, Jackson must have checked the kitchens when he was in Hufflepuff’s common room. ”As I left the kitchens I heard someone moving slowly along the wall. I performed a disillusionment charm and approached.” Tobias was on the edge of his seat, Rosa pretended not to care what Jackson was saying. ”It was Professor Mackaroy. She was sending her patronus to someone. I didn’t catch who too, but I did hear the message.” Jackson wriggled on the bed, and coughed more. Tobias knew they would soon have the nurse down here shooing them off. He wanted to hurry his brother but thought it best to be patient. ”She said, ’I’ve taken care of him; he’s not in the way any further. We shall move forward.’

As if on cue the nurse swiftly made her way to them, ”You two OUT!” They stood and shuffled quickly out the door. While Jackson wasn't able to finish the story, Tobias was sure that shortly after the encounter with Mackaroy is when the inferi attacked Jackson. Maybe Mackaroy sensed Jackson's presence and told them to attack him. As Rosa and Tobias rounded the corner toward the tower they saw Head Master make a right turn. ”Isn’t his office to the left?” Rosa questioned the man’s’ direction. Tobias stopped in his tracks, ”He’s the Head Master, does he need your permission to patrol the grounds? Especially when there are inferi around?” He started walking again, Rosa stayed still. ”Tobias I have a hunch.” The boy turned and faced her, ”I doubt you have anything resembling a hunch that is even close to the truth.”

He turned, finishing the journey to the common room. He knew Rosa was somewhere behind him, and he also knew she was probably crying. He didn’t care. Tobias made his way up the stairs and slipped into his bed; his mind went over everything again and again until he accidently fell asleep.

Morning came, Tobias felt as if a large weight had been placed on his head. Two hours of sleep were not nearly enough. His best mate awoke and came straight over, ”Where were you last night?!” Zachary and Tobias had met on the train their first year; they had been inseparable ever since. Tobias waited until everyone left and then explained the previous night’s events. ”Professor Mackaroy is the one involved, I’m sure she was the cloaked person in the kitchen. I thought it was a man at first, but given what Jackson overheard it has to be her.” Tobias knew the ’him’ she referred to was him.

Tobias finished the story and sat there quietly considering everything he knew.

Zachary broke the silence, ”Well, what are you going to do?”

CHOOSE NOW!
1. Tobias goes to investigate Professor Mackaroy's office
2. Tobias decides to eat (because he hasn't eaten in more than 18 hours) and uses that opportunity to question other students.
