But Eris was never one to turn down a dare...even if this wasn't necessarily a dare.
Reaching out her hand she grabbed one between her fingers, and as he instructed broke off the edges and took a bite. Mmmmm The house elves sure did a good job, then again, the girl hadn't eaten in what seemed like forever so she could probably digest a paperclip happily. Looking down at the burnt pieces hungrily in her hand, Eris wondered if she could eat them too, but seeing she was still in the presence of the headmaster, kept them in her palm for later.
"Excuse me...." Eris began taking a seat, unsure really how to begin talking about the gem the size of a barn owl that was now nestled in her lap, nor the wrapping. "We um..." she motioned her head to the gem, "Well...we went into this strange room...and found this with a golden snake wrapped around it...." she nodded her head to the object Sarah was holding. "...and well...a boulder chased us out of the room while they were in our hands...so we decided it was best to bring them to you..."
Eris glanced towards Sarah to see if she was missing anything important from the story.
Sarah nodded her head along with what Eris was saying. It had been short and simple. Perfect. Now, it was only a matter of the headmaster
believing them. Well, what did he suppose the giant gem and golden snake thing were? Chocolate in aluminum foil?
"Basically," she said, deciding to add a little bit to it, "we stumbled upon this weird room. There was a jungle in it, or... whatever. We found a cave with these-" she nodded to the artifacts, "-in it. Just as we got to them, a giant rock came out of, like, nowhere. It chased us out and she," here she nodded to Eris, "figured that these were school property, and that it would be the right thing to do, to return it to the school."
Then it hit her, they hadn't introduced themselves.
"Oh, and I'm Sarah Oliver, and she's Eris." she smiled, less mischievous than the one she had first given him.
