The common room was certainly grand and where the open fires and large sofas were supposed to be inviting, Tom found it all a little intimidating and overwhelming. He was used to the concrete jungle of the estate. It was his home. This place seemed so foreign to him.

He took a seat in an armchair, not really knowing what to do with himself. Maybe he should just go for a stroll outside. Get his thoughts together.. but that was unfamiliar too: he had a feeling he would feel just as lost out there.

Emily was already tired, and the feast had only just ended. How she was going to survive this year she didn't know. All she wanted to do was crawl up to bed and read herself to sleep. But the thought of seeing the common room again and the fire was tempting.

"Carriwitchet!" she said as the portrait swung open. She entered the common room to take a seat when she noticed a boy... sitting in her armchair. Well, it wasn't officially her's, but she always sat in that one.

Taking the seat next to him she looked from the fire to the boy. He looked down. Just how she felt. "You alright?" she asked giving him a friendly smile. Sitting in her armchair.
