"Oh, well she might do. Quite often the magic spreads through a whole generation I think, though sometimes it only reaches one child..." Aurora couldn't remember where she'd heard that but she was almost entirely sure it was true. She smiled at Elodie, "She'll be fine, just write to her a lot and she'll get used to it. Do you have an owl?" Because, you know, owls are useful.

Potions? Elodie wrinkled her nose. I'm terrible at cooking so I can't imagine I'll be much good at Potions, plus I really don't like the idea of using all the gross dead things as ingredients! She repressed a shudder at the memory of the apothecary she'd had to visit Diagon Alley where the beady eyes of poor dead creatures seemed to stare out at you from every jar..
To be honest with you, I don't know a lot about wizarding history. I mean, I did try to find out some stuff over the summer but let's just say the magical resources in my local library leave a lot to be desired!" Elodie laughed, but something Aurora had said had piqued her interest and asked innocently
"Did you say the pureblood families are inter-related? Why? Why do they all inter-marry, why don't they marry muggles or half-bloods or anything?"
She was beginning to understand just how ignorant she was of the wizarding world and was eager for Aurora to explain what seemed to be such a strange concept.
