He even had some, although it wasn't because they couldn't move, but because he had stood completely still while they were taken. You could still see the slight motions of his breathing, and a blink or two, but he imagined that whatever she was describing was something like that. That wasn't confusing.
"In thin little books? Of portraits??" He couldn't help but make a face, his nose scrunching a bit, bright blue eyes closed tightly for a brief moment. "Why would they do that? And... What?" That second 'what' coming suddenly as he realized he still had no idea what any of that meant.
"Erm...." Eris had to take a moment to figure out an easier way to explain it when she herself had no idea really the purpose of such things. Muggles would be muggles of course, and half the stuff Eris heard about them seemed to be so strange and rather useless or inconvenient. What was the actually purpose of the portraits? That was undoubtedly unknown, but she could try to explain how they were if it helped.
"Well...there are these thin little book things that are filled with more pictures than words." She tried to explain, picturing the thing as vividly in her mind as possible. "They call it a mangnazeen...I think..." Eris continued slowly as though trying hard to remember. "Anywho...in each of the little books...they have a completely still picture of my dad...like you can't even see him breathing! I'm not sure how they did it..." she couldn't help but marvel at some things muggles made.
"So...in these portraits...they had my dad stand still as a dead person...and then do different poses in different....and
reallllly weird outfits....really weird actually..." Eris stiffled a laugh at the funny little things they had him wear. "Then on the side of the page they have his name and a little description of what he has on his body paired with little lined 's's." Eris added though she wasn't sure she wanted to go into that as she really didn't know what any of that meant. "But...they must make him do this often...cause he always has to apparate out of the country almost every week." Eris stopped for a moment her eyes widening for half a second hoping she hadn't said too much.
She turned her eyes back to face him, wondering if he was going to say what his family did now, or if her explanation still faltered within his mind.

He can't wait to start the term with a positive mind set.
"Well if you do need help to know the who's who in Slytherin" Jonathan turned his head to find the first person he could see with a title "That is the Head Boy... Salander" he pointed out the seventh year head boy from a far. "And that is the head girl, Evelyn" he pointed his finger at her for Eris to know them. "If you need help in anything, you could ask either the two" he added.
And now for the teachers... Well what else can Jonathan say? All of them are weird in their own way. Jonathan can't further explain how they are why they are though. "That's Professor Lafay over there" he pointed at the Professor who was busy deducting Sierra and everyone house points. "Beware though" he whispered in the lowest voice this time "everyone refers to her as the Dragon Lady" with his head looking down on the food.
"Don't worry everyone gets oriented, so you shouldn't really be worried that much" Jonathan clasped his hands.
Eris made a mental note of the two "heads" though she wasn't sure what a "head" meant.
Must be something important she thought, wondering the qualifications to become such...or if there were more than just two.
"Dragon Lady?" Eris repeated hoping her voice wasn't too loud. Imagining that Professor Lafay could spit fire as well as teach. She also seemed to be deducting...what was it? Something about points. Eris would definitely have to read her history book when she got to the common room.
Eris turned over to the food in front of her with freshly cleaned silverware, but was weary to eat the food. If the silverware wasn't properly taken care of then would the food be any better?

He didn't like looking like a loner, it made it seem like he was a loner, which he wasn't, much. If he had his guitar with his right then, he would play a funky tune, but he didn't, so he was stuck finding people to talk to.
A small witch that looked rather like a young boy with dark hair and blue eyes waved over at a new recruit to the Slytherin table.
"Hi there, need someplace to sit?" she asked scooting over with a welcoming smile.

"I know!" Eris gave a happy laugh as she glanced back over to the hat before clucking her tongue. "I wonder how long this dinner will last...." she continued forking at her food, wanting more than anything to see the Slytherin common rooms.
