"That is quite an accomplishment," Adam said, his eyebrows going up slightly. "I seem to have managed friends from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, but none from Slytherin," Adam said, biting his lower lip. Well...if the stereotypes about Slytherin were true then maybe that wasn't such a bad thing.
Adam saw a nervous look of realization play across Louisa's face, although Adam wasn't entirely sure as to what the realization was that had her seeming nervous. Oh..Quidditch..."I...uh...haven't really decided about that yet," Adam said with a chuckle. "I'll probably wait and see how I settle in first before I think about trying out." Adam wanted to play on the team, but at the same time he was bummed that if he made the team he would have to play against Ellie.
Adam couldn't help but laugh as Louisa threw a dirty goblet across the table, the cup bouncing off the table and onto the floor. "I guess I was just trying to be optimistic about the whole thing," he said with another shrug. He was glad he had gotten Louisa laughing but the moment was cut off when they both spotted the House Elf hitting itself. As Louisa tried to tell the creature to stop, Adam gave a nod and a little smile, hoping that maybe that would encourage it to stop punishing herself.
"It's really awful isn't it? The way they abuse themselves for making mistakes...from what I hear there's not really much anyone can do to make them stop, it's just in their nature." Adam finished the statement with a frown...house elves took being hard on themselves to a new extreme.
"
There are some nice Slytherins." I hope, she added in her head. "
Once classes begin, you'll meet enough." And she liked the idea of him settling down first. "
I think that's a great idea. I'll be supporting you anyways." She added forcing herself to be optimistic about Quidditch- maybe it wasn't a boring game as she thought it was?
Looking sadly at all the house elves thwacking themselves, she agreed with him, "Yes. I mean I find it really practical that they have a very sensitive conscience. You know, they won't mess up as much. But hitting themselves...that's a bit too much.[/b]" She glanced around to the headmaster, "
Isn't he their master in a way? Can't he stop them?" As if Adam knew anything about Hogwarts that she didn't. "When is the speech, too?[/b]" Starving students around here, HELLO!
