What is it you are doing? If you don't mind me asking." Arianna Said with a big smile on her face.
Gaby looked up with a start as she heard someone talking, presumably to her; seeing as she was the only person in the compartment. As she did, her finger slipped and she pricked her finger with the needle. 'Ow!' she muttered, removing the needle and sucking on her finger. She was kind of used to injuries like this, though, because she sewed so much. She had once stitched her thumb to a skirt she had made. That had been an interesting day... anyways.
'I'm sewing,' she said to the other girl with a smile. She wondered how she'd not known that. Surely everyone knew what sewing was, even if they'd never actually done it? But still.
'The sleeves on my new robes were a bit long, so I thought I'd take them up a little bit,' she added in explanation.
'And of course I don't mind! I'm Gaby, by the way. Gaby Parker. What's your name?' Quote:

Before he went to retrieve it, however, he'd decided to go ahead and change into his robes, having gotten a second/third/fourth/whateverhand snippet of a mention that people were beginning to do that now when he was peeking out of his compartment.
Locating the clothing, he ducked back into his seat, sort of wondering if it would be alright to change there. It wasn't as though he had to get naked or anything, having thought ahead enough that he didn't have much clothing to exchange, but some people got uncomfortable about changing shoes around other people. He didn't care, though, and so he just quickly swapped the clothing he needed to, putting away what he had been wearing before finding his book and sitting back down. As he opened up the book, he couldn't help but smile a little. One more step closer, that was. Soon he'd be at school.
Gaby glanced out through the compartment door and saw a boy, who looked about the same age as her, sitting by himself. Well, that wasn't right! No one should have to sit by themselves on the way to their first day at Hogwarts. It would be boring - there was no one to be excited with! She smiled at the girl and stood up, pushing the door back.
'I'll be back in just a sec,' she told her, and slipped out, walking across into the boy's compartment.
'Hi,' she said brightly, waving.
'I was just wondering - cause you look sort of lonely - if you'd like to come and sit with me and my friend in our compartment?' she asked, hoping that she didn't seem weird. She was just nice! Well, and maybe a bit weird too, but no one needed to know that.
