“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Rachel shouted as Emily bounced down the stairs, still in her pyjamas. It was August 4th and Emily’s twelfth birthday. She smiled at her sister before jumping on her, gripping her in a bear hug.

“I wasn’t expecting you ‘till later!”

“Ah, but I need to give you your present now little sis. Before it fly’s off.”
Emily’s heart skipped a beat. No way.

She ran into her living room and saw it. The big bronze cage sitting on her coffee table, containing the little tawny owl.
“RACHEL! Thank you so much!” This was the best present ever!
