"So this law... is everyone going to get in trouble now?" she asked. She looked around as if expecting people to swoop in on them. "Because... I found out on his birthday. I can tell them that... It was an accident." She was pretty upset still, but that didn't mean she wanted Carter to go to jail. Or Mina. Or her parents. "I dunno... maybe... but it's not like you don't have proof..." Anya replied when Mina asked if she would have believed it a few years ago. "Well, not exactly. That was just what Carter kept calling it. All the signs said 'River Piddle'." she explained. "But there had to be something else there... like an amusement park or something. I saw these big lollipops out in the marshes from the balcony." she said with a shrug. "I guess that wasn't an amusement park though..." she added thoughtfully.
She glanced up at the clock. Mina would have to go soon. Anya gave the older girl a hug. "Thanks for everything." she said with a small smile. "I hope you are allowed to take me. This book will tell me what I need to know about the game right?" she asked holding up the book a little. She may still be a little upset now, but she was sure that one day she'd be excited to see everything. ...That was, if they let her. "I can write to you while you're at school right? Carter did tell me about that. He said his owl can take things to school. Did you know he had an owl?" Anya had no idea. It made her wonder where he hid such a thing. "I hope you have a good term. Maybe I can see you at Christmas? Will you be in London then?" Mina frowned as well as she saw the look on Anya's face. It was all a bit confusing and she wished there was more she could do about it all. She knew there were more questions and she wanted to help answer them, but their time was limited at the moment. "I'm sorry that I had to keep it from you," she pouted. Her own birthday was in June, so it would have been okay for her to tell her friend and if there were consequences, she would have been ready to face them then. "I know it's confusing, the first time I learned about your world; I was a bit confused too, but look at me now." She was living in the muggle world basically now and enjoying it. "I don't think so, if it happened on his birthday and he was of age to really tell you; we should all be fine. Besides, if we were in trouble; I would think they would have done something by now." It had been weeks and no one had received a visit from the ministry yet. "You know we should have trusted you but we weren't being smart about it," she replied. Learning about a whole secret world didn't really sound all that feasible if you didn't see it for yourself. "A world of magic sounds like a fairy tale to most people in the muggle world."
Nodding her head, she listened to Anya. "You saw the goals of a quidditch pitch," she smiled. "Those lollipops were the three goals I was talking about." Thinking about it, she could see why Anya thought it was an amusement park though. The atmosphere could be very much the same at both. "Well, that sounds like Puddlemere to me." She still hadn't heard of many non-magical folk being that close to Puddlemere and still remember being there. She would have to look into it once she got to the castle.
Hearing a faint ringing in the distance, she looked to the clock and frowned. She needed to get to the platform and get settled in, but there was still more she could explain to the younger girl. Returning her attention back to Anya, she hugged her back and smiled. "Your are welcome and I just wish I could have explained more to you," she replied. There were still so many unanswered questions and she knew it. "I will find a way to get you to a match, I promise you that." she added. If there was a way, she would find it. "It should tell you the basics of the game and history about the game and other games like it. If you have other questions, you know you can just write me." She knew there would be more questions and welcomed them. "Of course you can write me! In fact, I expect you to write me all the time." she responded. "Apollo? He's friends with my owl, Diana. They like to chase each other." she nodded. Their owls were more friends than Mina and Carter sometimes. "I will try to have a nice term, but you must promise me; you will think about what I told you and maybe write Carter once this term. I just ask for one owl and you don't even have to be nice, if you don't want to." If that at least were talking to each other, it was an improvement and a start. "It's a date then! I'll be seeing you at Christmas, I plan on coming home to London to spend it with the people I love and you are obviously one of those people."
Giving Anya a finally hug, she stood up and lead her back to the Phillips, before gathering her things and making her way through the station and to the platform. |
