It shouldn't have been so hard to say goodbye to Mia. They had been through the same thing before, and it wasn't like she was going to be away from him forever. But the look on her face made it seem that way, and that was what Nikolai was reacting to.
He really didn't want to leave. He wanted to go up to her and kiss the tears that were so visibly forming in her eyes away.
Maybe it would have been easier if she left while they were angry at eachother.
"I'll see you soon." he murmured, and raising his hand in a farewell, he took her in for a moment before turning and making his way off the platform.
She didn't want him to feel bad that's why she was trying so hard to keep those tears from falling when all she really wanted to do was cry her eyes out.
"See you." she whispered, waving her hand in goodbye and watched as he turned and walked towards the platform's exit. It was only then that she finally felt the hot tears slide down her cheeks and she stumbled her way into the nearest empty compartment.
