They've been having the same one-sided conversation for a week. He'd told her about how he wanted to explain everything, but was just waiting for the right time. She responded to this by walking away. He tried telling her about he was worried she'd let it slip to her adoption agent. She responded to this by hitting him. He even tried saying it wasn't all his fault, but that his parents hadn't told her anything either. To this she actually responded saying that they would have told her if he hadn't insisted on waiting. It was one of the few times she'd actually talked to him during the past week.
In fact, Anya had spent most of the week writing to Mina and Marie. Of course, she hadn't been able to send any more letters because of not having an owl.
This was his last time he'd be taking the Hogwarts Express to school. He was quidditch captain and a 7th year! This was supposed to be a triumphant, exciting trip. Instead, he was just hoping that the getting on the platform would be magical enough to break his sister's silence. Mina slowly got out of the car as soon as the driver opened the door. She wasn't at all used to have a driver take her to the station, but it wasn't like she was going to drive herself. This was her last trip on as a student and here she was alone. Jade was off working and her father was overseas again. She had wanted Evan to be there with her at this moment, but she know he was at camp and one goodbye had been enough.
Watching the driver unload all her things, she glanced around and sighed. It really was her very last time going back to Hogwarts and it was surreal for her. She was finally a seventh year and all the dreams she had dreamt leading up to this moment hadn't really prepared her for this. She had been overjoyed for her friends that got badges and a bit jealous at the same time. She had failed herself, but she only had herself to blame there. Her only course of action now was to just throw herself into her studies again and thrive in her last year. She wasn't a quitter and considering that the most important man in her life was away making a name for himself, she didn't have anyone to try to impress now. She was going to be focused again on the prize.
Seeing that all her things were on the trolley, she smiled to the driver before tipping him and sending him on his way. This was really going to happen, she was going to be ride the train on last time and make the best of it. She would prove herself once again and nothing was going to get in her way. Yes, she would make the time for her friends and be that social butterfly again, but she had a goal that needed to be accomplished if it was the last thing she did.
Pushing the trolley towards the entrance, she heard familiar voices and stopped. Looking to the right and then the left, she spotted a no so little girl that she had been wanting to see all summer but wasn't actually allowed to see. They had written to each other all summer, but that wasn't the same at all. She had plans for them all summer, but alas they never happened and that vexed her greatly.
Looking up she noticed the whole family and smiled softly before noticing the look on the girl's face. Yes, she understood the anger there all to well. She herself was a bit more than angry with the same person those glares were directed to. Shaking her head, she took a breath and head over to the family. "And if it isn't my favourite Philips in the world," she smiled pushed her trolley over and stopped beside the girl. |
