Selina watched the brief interaction between Jack and Kurumi. She really appreciated that Kurumi was relaying to Jack that she would offend Selina more if he did not allow her to pay, but when he stood his ground on the issue she was taken aback a bit. Did he really just do that? And to a Prefect no less? He had guts, she had to give it to him. Problem was so did Selina and if he was going to play that game she could play it harder.
Looking him up and down deciding whether or not to get into an argument with him she decided against it. She was trying to be nice to a stranger because, well honestly, she was only supposed to go with Kurumi and he played tag team. She had intended on paying for Kurumi before even getting there and when he showed up she felt kind of obligated. But if he said no then no it was.
She crossed her arms and gave him a dark stare, "Fine. I won't pay for you then. I'm not going to beg you to let me be nice." Then she smiled at him to let him know she was not all temper, "I have to give it to you though... you have some fire in you. I think we'll get along just fine."
Then she turned to Kurumi and whined like a three year old, "Noooooowwwwwwwwwwww can we go ride brooms? Please please please please?"
"Thank you." Said Jack courteously, but his voice was a bit harder than usual. For some reason, he was actually quite annoyed, he felt a bit like a... charity basket or something. But he wasn't naturally argumentative, so he just gave a small smile.
Fire? In him? Really? That was a first.
He couldn't help feel a bit chuffed, out of the few people he knew, they would always have described him as pasty and meek though really he was just obedient. Sometimes when the boys from down the road would go in to their stupid café, they'd take a few notes out of the tip jar, and he'd say nothing.
"Yeah." He said, looking expectantly at the lady that worked there. "I think that would be a good idea."
