He hoped the Ferris wheel would stop for a second when they got up there, just so they could look at the view. Did Ferris wheels do that?
He smiled at what she said next; she was happy. He took that to mean that she was happy all-around, and not just right now in this second. At least, that's what he hoped she meant. "Why?" He couldn't help but ask; he really wanted to know the answer. The truth was, though, that he was happy too. Granted, he hadn't gone through all the stuff she had in the past few years, but he was happy all the same. For the last little while he'd been just feeling good for no real reason. Although he was willing to bet the real reason was Ellie.
Eep, they were almost there? Ellie bit her lip and kept squeezed her eyes shut. She didn't want to look until they were at the very top.
"Let me know when we're there." Ellie whispered, putting her head back on Dallin's shoulder. Hm, he made a good pillow. You know, if it weren't for the screaming kids on the bouncy castle and the carpet ride, she could actually take a nice nap up there... Anyway,
Ellie smiled big when he asked why. Surely he had to know the reason. There were two main reasons to her happiness. Ellie took another sigh before responding.
"The past four years, I've been living, knowing that I was going to die soon. My fourth year..." She let out a small, sarcastic laugh.
"That was terrible. Everything fell apart that year. And then... I met you." Ellie looked up at his blue eyes.
"And even though things were hard at the end of the school year and during the summer, you made me the happiest I had been in years." Ellie looked away, and rested her head back on his shoulder, a smile on her lips.
"And here we are now."
