It was only August's second day in Diagon Alley and things had changed dramatically. He had no idea that wizard's had their own carnival teams. He had spent most of the morning just looking at all the amazing rides and tents popping up around the place and had just made it to the biggest ferris wheel he had ever seen.
The thirteen year old placed a hand on his brow to block the sunlight and he gazed at the ride looming over most of London. "Blimey can't the Muggles see that?" he asked outloud, unaware that a fro-ed carnie was standing about a foot away. Who was this? Another kid? A runty kid, at that. He didn't look much older than a decade or so. Who was he to speculate about the ways of Worple and Warmsley? "Ay, YOU!" Jean called, pointing a finger at him as she stuck her hand out at arms length. "What choo be speculatin' 'bout? Dem muggles carn't see nufink if we don't wan' them to. Advance magick, this is." Turning for a moment, she looked reverently up at the highest point of the ferris wheel, a small twinkle in her eyes before the lioness within returned. Glare. Glare at the kid until he stepped on the ride or ran away. |
