Philip stared at Dani in quiet contemplation. When her hand touched his cheek to brush away the tear, he blinked at the sudden warm, fuzziness he could feel in his chest. Then she kissed him again. This time, he kissed her back instead of just freezing. He didn't break his eyes away from hers for a second, except to glance down at their entwined hands.

He let himself squeeze Dani's hand softly. He could tell that he must have been blushing by the fact that his face was on fire. He didn't feel bad or embarrassed any more though. Every negative emotion he had felt had been overtaken by that warm feeling in his chest. The only image he saw was not a memory of ridicule and despair, but the image of the wonderful, sweet, gorgeous girl that was sitting beside him. He made a vague attempt at thanking her for her compliment, but it came out more like a mumble than an actual word.
