Mikey looked at Maria and sighed. Now was the time to put everything in his life aside and help Maria through this. She needed him. He sat back again and pulled her into a hug. Maria finally cracked. After who knew how many weeks of an icy shell, she cracked. She wrapped her hands around Mikey and broke down on his shoulder. She was terrified.
"Thank you" she choked out between sobs. She didn't care about anything else but being in Mikey's comforting embrace. It helped. A lot.
