27. Owl

Taking two steps at a time, Emily hurried up to the girls dormitories in Ravenclaw Tower. Perhaps now would be the best time to catch up on some homework, considering she had left it till almost the last minute- which was very unusual for her.
Tap... tap... tap...

A small barn owl was tapping at the window pane furiously, as Emily entered the dorms.

“Dante,” she cooed affectionately as she let him in. The owl dropped a letter on her bed, then perched himself on her shoulder.

The letter read...

Your father's dead... I hope you’re happy.

....But she wasn’t.
