"Damien." Without thinking about it Isobel reached out and gripped his shoulders with her hands. She was going to shake him, but it was all she could do to keep her grip on his shoulders. "What's wrong?" She felt her cheeks get slightly warm, but kept her eyes unblinkingly focused on his face.

Well that caught him off guard.

The last thing Damien expected was for Isobel to grab his shoulders. Why was there so much confusion in her voice? She had a -- a -- a boyfriend and Damien and Isobel were best friends. So what? It really isn't all that hard to figure out.

He took a long look at her hands as they rested on his shoulders, before looking at her, raised eyebrows and a puzzled expression himself. Isobel's eyes pierced to the depths of Damien's soul, and the slight rose color in her cheeks made her all the more beautiful.

UGH!

"Isobel," he said, gently pushing her hands off his shoulders. "I don't understand why you think something would be wrong with me. I asked you what we were, you said friends, I said that's great. End of story. Why won't you let it go?"
