And she was so keen on not disagreeing with him for once. This was not going to be that, apparently.
Basically, she wasn't to say anything, right? So, even now, when she was unsure whether or not she was meant to reply, she didn't say anything. A nod would suffice, right? She nodded. No interrupting.
Ew. Why'd he use her full name? He knew she didn't like that. Least it wasn't 'Eliana', though. That would be worse. 'Ellie Stone' she supposed she could live with. But that he used her last name at all was odd. She sooo would have questioned him about it...but she wasn't to interrupt.
The girl found herself blushing and...smiling just a bit. She remembered when they met. Of all the things she could so easily forget, that wasn't one of them.
And she didn't know about the 'falling asleep' bit. That made her blush, too. She felt pretty bad for not believing any good thing he had to say about her right now. She'd always doubted he didn't really mean all the compliments he'd give her. But, Ellie saw now, that...maybe...he actually meant them. She wasn't fond of that b-word still, whether Treyen truly meant it or not.
They seemed to agree on the OWLs bit. Surely a first.
Her lip seemed like such a more practical thing to chew than anything at the table when he looked away, and her gaze followed his to his hands. They weren't that interesting, honestly, so she looked back up at his head so that whenever he decided to lift it again, she'd be looking into his eyes.
Ah, and there they were.
And that's where she knitted her eyebrows. Confused, clearly.
So.... all that... that wasn't the 'something'? No, obviously. Obviously he felt he'd done something wrong. Ellie slowly, almost cautiously, reached for his hands. She was confused...and worried. Like, what could he have done to apologize for? Seriously? He didn't break her camera... so... she had no clue.
He'd trailed off so she could talk now, right? She'd chance it. "Mean to do what?"
NO!
All he wanted was to, at least, hold her hand, just ONE of them, but he couldn't even do that, so, as soon as she'd reached his hands he stood up. His eyes were still on her,
"I don't want to lose you, but I'll understand if you want me away from you," he said, and for a moment his thoughts went to their last kiss. No, wait, he couldn't remember it! Everything in his mind seemed like a blur of moving images and he couldn't see one of them clearly.
"I've been thinking about what happened, and I don't know why nor how it did, and I seriously wish I could turn back time and undo it," he said, pacing from one side to the other. He wanted to turn back time, true, especially if that incident was going to keep him away from her.
He cleared his throat once and then continued,
"I wanted to tell you myself, rather than have you hear it from somebody else," because maybe, like this, he could explain a bit more.
Did he have something else to say?
Right. Treyen stood in front of her, two steps away, and his head was down, he'd rather not see her reaction, truth be told, and he was being a coward for that, but he didn't care about that right now.
"I kissed someone. Another girl."
His heart was racing too fast, and he only knew that he was completely dreading her reaction.
