Meaning she could be nice to him without him even knowing! She didn't want to ruin their real not so friendly friendship or anything. That would be awful!

Carter turned a little red. "Presents." he said trying not to sound to embarrassed. "Girls do enjoy a good sized gift..." he said running a hand through his hair. He couldn't very well tie a teddy bear to an owl of the very same size. That wouldn't make any sense.

"No problem." he said with a smile. "I'm sure he's excited to finally have something to do." he said glancing at the owl. "I'm afraid he won't have much of anything to do over the summer. I think I might ask Josh to keep an eye on him. Apollo would be bored out of his mind if he came back home with me."
