What is it that you are just so afraid of?" he pleaded, desperate to understand why she thought that she couldn't trust anyone, or why she felt that she had to shut off her emotions and hide whenever someone tried to reach out to her. It really hurt him to see her so upset. They were bestfriends afterall, despite their constant bickering.
"It- it's not?" Christopher asked, sounding genuinely shocked. "But, that can't be right," he stammered. He wasn't used to having a life that wasn't difficult with each day. "Things get..... better," he said breathlessly, overwhelmed with thoughts about the life that laid ahead.
Selina put her hand on Christopher's shoulder and said in a tone sweetly, "Chris, when you spend everyday of your life knowing when people die and when they lose the people they love, then you tell me that you want tell people about your condition. But until that day don't expect me to understand why I should just tell people about my ability. You have no room to comment on things you don't understand."
Then she looked at him softly and said, "Of course things get better. Time heals a lot of pain. And so does a certain Veela."
