His Aunt, sure from time to time, but Damien wasn't known for being an affectionate boy.
But he liked the contact from Isobel. Made him feel safe.
Scratching the back of his neck he nodded once. "But -- it's not as if my parents have passed and I can't remember them anymore," he began. "My Aunt, you see -- is my mother's sister. Or so she's told me. And -- apparently I've been living with her for a," he put two fingers up on each hands making the quotation mark sign, " 'very long time'."
Pause.
"Amazingly enough my Aunt has no photos of my mother. No photographs from their childhood, from my mother's marriage to my father -- Nothing that would even resemble a trace of family history --" Damien's voice grew softer as he finished; being afraid that he'd lost Isobel at this point and was starting to sound rather loony to her.
Isobel frowned in concern.
"Damien can I hug you?" It was the first thing that came out of her mouth; she hadn't meant to say it. But when she did she thought it was kind of weird and she blushed. But, she supposed it was good to ask him before she just hugged him.
"That's..." She could not think of the right word for it. So she didn't say anything for about half a minute.
"My aunt is my mom's sister," she finally said quietly.
"And my story sounds very similar to yours. I have never seen a picture of my mom, I grew up going between my aunt and my foster family." Which, when she thought about it, didn't make much sense. But she had never questioned it before. It was starting to occur to her that she should.
"You know what Damien? I'm going to hug you," she announced before hugging him. Heh. She smiled, because it felt really good to hug Damien. Hopefully he wouldn't put a restraining order on her. She could always say her cold was effecting her brain.
