He didn't bother to check she would put the one he'd said no to back, confident that she would. She was a good girl, his Aspen, and Leon Odessa didn't often say know. The trick was, when he did, he meant it.
He paid for her selection, cringing slightly at the cost but not commenting on it at all. He'd said he would and really, it was just the way the world was. And maybe cosmetics had always been expensive, how would he know? Either way, he paid and passed her the bag that packaged all her things up, a Primpernelles label printed on the bag.

Aspen hadn't exactly been expecting her father to mention her makeup, little as she put on, but maybe small parts of her were hoping. Maybe later. Maybe... she hadn't put enough on? Hmm. Maybe.
"The Menagerie is next!" ....."Egbert!" Yes, she DID already have her yet-to-be-hers bat named. "I think bats are underutilized," Aspen began as they left out of the shop. She swung her bag from Primpernelles, happy to put the awkwardness of their first stop behind them. |
